K College Wayfinding

A new series of symbols has been designed to allow for easy identification of key facilities whilst providing handy navigational prompts that can be incorporated into a variety of different signs throughout the college.

Consistent colour coding has been employed so that users can clearly distinguish between the 4 main buildings (Cherry, Ash, Birch and Maple) by matching the colour of the signs to the interior decor of the corridors.

Large scale arrows and numbers have been used make key information as clear as possible in the busy corridors. Additionally they help make the vast corridor spaces appear much more interesting and distinguishable for people travelling through them.

Signika was chosen as the ideal typeface for this project. Developed specifically for wayfinding its clear and gentle appearance helps the new signage uphold a more welcoming atmosphere when addressing the users of the college.

Each piece of signage has been designed to solve a range of problems that were identified by staff and students alike in a college-wide survey completed earlier this year. Thanks to the feedback that was collected this new wayfinding solution is able to address these issues with the specific needs of K College members in mind.
